The idea
Hunter Engineering makes a device that uses strain gauges to measure the performance of the brake at each wheel of a car.
The idea is to put a fully automatic version of this at places like rest stops or along major ring roads where where is room to add them along exits or acceleration lanes. The expected cost of operation is about $60,000 a year which can be offset by advertising revenue from the local companies that do brake repair.
